Go Green Surfboards and Surfchairs
Jim Mizell, the creator of the Clone® surfboard manufacturing process, started surfing in 1959. He has been making surfboards since 1970. Jim lived in Hawaii for ten years where he surfed some of the best and biggest waves in the world and learned the art of board shaping from true craftsmen. Back on the mainland, he shaped thousands of conventional boards. These conventional surfboards he found fragile and their materials he found to be toxic. Jim decided to make a stronger, safer surfboard. Surfboards that are stronger last longer which meant less waste and a lower environmental impact.
Jim has always been a conservationist. As a surfer, how could you not be? Jim Mizell was a Special Ops Combat Engineer in Vietnam where Jim learned to make something from nothing on a daily basis. He prayed everyday while there that he would make it home safely. When he did, Jim used his skills to symbolize his creativity, actualize his imagination, demonstrate his passion for craftsmanship and love for surfing to develop a stronger and safer to manufacture surfboard.
Mizell went to work developing a surfboard that would be stronger than any board on the market. His company, Clone® has merged with Go Green Surfboards to help educate and show our commitment to significantly reduce CFC's in our manufacturing of surfboards and other products. The foam used is OSHA approved and due to the Clone® manufacturing process, we have eliminated shaping and sanding. Our continued work with chemists will further eliminated all CFCs from our manufacturing processes.
Some foam blank manufacturers in the US are no longer in business because higher standards have been put in place by OSHA. The same blank that may be banned in the US is allowed to be imported from overseas. These conventional surfboards are still made with a cyanide gas called toluene diisocyanate (TDI) which can be a health factor when shaping and sanding these blanks. The Clone® system has completely eliminated shaping and sanding which results in none of these pollutants being released into the air or inhaled by the shapers and sanders.
CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon) studies undertaken by various scientists revealed that manmade CFC emissions to date have accounted for roughly 80% of the total ozone depletion. They have a lifetime of over 100 years and can therefore continue to destroy ozone for a long period. One CFC molecule can result in the loss of 100,000 ozone molecules. CFC's released accumulate in the stratosphere, where they had a deleterious effect on the ozone layer. Stratospheric ozone shields living organisms on earth from the harmful effects of the sun's ultraviolet radiation.
Many people may not be aware of these pollutants, but we all believe in protecting our planet for ourselves, our families and generations to come. The system we have created is unlike anything available today. We buy and use green materials made in America, which cuts our costs, eliminates emissions and reduces pollutants to zero. Without shaping or sanding we have lower labor costs. Our prices are lower than normal surfboards as a result.
When you ride a green surfboard on the perfect wave be proud you have done your part to preserve our planet. When you sit in a Go Green Surfchair, you can be proud that you own a Made in USA piece of art that was designed to bring a new way of "surfing the internet" into your home.
